Creatures & Critters Art Exhibit, Fundraiser and Sale Wrap up report:

During the month of October, Creatures & Critters Art Exhibit, Sale and Fundraiser was graciously sponsored by The Savings Bank and featured over 100 pieces of original art. There was a wide variety of media made by 40 ACW members and local artists, as well as a collection of work from WHS Art students. The exhibit showcased a diverse array of works on paper, paintings, photography, and ceramics. It was a celebration of the natural world in all its forms and a testament to the talent within our community.

The 5 x 7 Small Works Fundraiser awarded $730.00 to PAWS. To participate in the fundraiser, local artists created small 5x7 pieces of art for display in the foyer of the Albion Cultural Exchange for sale for $10.00. Over 70 pieces of donated art were sold and the proceeds awarded to PAWS, Wakefield’s all-volunteer, non-profit animal welfare organization. Founded in 1982 by the late Esther Nowell, PAWS serves to promote and protect the rights and well-being of all domestic animals and wildlife, and foster greater understanding of animal welfare and animal rights through education. In the past, the ACW 5x7 Small Works Fundraiser has also raised money for WMHS Visual Art and the Wakefield Food Pantry.

The Arts Collaborative of Wakefield’s mission is to support Wakefield's visual artists and craftsmen. The idea is to provide opportunities for artists to network, meet and share ideas, and display their work. The ACW meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at the Albion Cultural Exchange which serves as a gathering place and gallery space for local artists, providing programming space for community organizations. Look for our next exhibit, Tell Me a Story coming up in April 2024. For details about joining the ACW or participating in the next show visit www.artscollaborativeofwakefield.com
