From the Ground Up and The 5 x 7 Small Works Fundraiser is sponsored by the ACW but open to anyone who wants to display their work at the Albion Cultural Exchange in Downtown Wakefield. The theme From the Ground Up is open to artist interpretation. Work for the show will hang in the main gallery.
The 5 x 7 Small Works Fundraiser offers local artists a chance to create, donate and display small 5x7 pieces of art in the foyer of the Albion Cultural Exchange for sale for $10.00. Anyone can participate. The donated art is available for sale on a first come first served basis, visitors to the show can select a small work then pick it off the wall and take it home. Not only will the fundraiser allow friends, family and visitors to buy some affordable, cool art but also help out a WMHS Art student in the process. It's an eye opening experience when students venture out to art school and have to buy their own supplies after leaving the comfort of WMHS Art. It is the intent of the ACW to help out with the beginning art material costs.
From the Ground Up and The 5 x 7 Small Works Fundraiser will be open on Thursdays and Fridays from 6:00 - 8:00 pm June 1 - 23 at the Albion Cultural Exchange. There will be an opening reception on Thursday June 1 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and a closing reception on Friday June 23 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.
Deadline for submission of artwork is May 18.
