Art & edibles
The Arts Collaborative of Wakefield and Albion Cultural Exchange (ACE) are excited to announce the second annual Art & edibles exhibit, a three-day celebration of food-inspired art creations and art-inspired food innovations. Taking place at the ACE Center at 9 Albion St. in Downtown Wakefield, the exhibit is free of charge and open to food and art lovers of all ages on the following dates and times:
- Thursday, March 7, 6 pm – 8pm.
- Friday, March 8, 6 pm – 8pm.
- Saturday, March 9, 10 am – 1pm.
Interested? Here's what's on the menu for this one-of-kind event:
- Open art exhibit featuring the work of 20 local artists who'll showcase 3 to 5 pieces, each. This year's gallery will take on a cool, Andy Warhol-esque theme, with several works inspired by food labels and packaging. Select works will be available for sale for attendees pieces for custom gifts, decorations, or new art to showcase on the walls of their home galleries.
- Food tastings and interactive cooking demonstrations by local restaurants ZuZu's Cafe. The Bread Shop and Remedy Exchange, with various edibles to munch on throughout the three-day experience. The very popular limoncello making demo, by community member Paul DiNocco is featured for Friday at 7pm.
- A student showcase featuring the creative work of young artists from Wakefield High School.
- A raffle basket sponsored by Wakefield's own The Savings Bank, with all ticket proceeds going to the Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry, a wonderful non-profit that helps local families in need keep food on the table
"Because Art & edibles is designed to blend two sensory experiences into one event, we're so excited to see participants pushing the envelope with what they create, be it food, art, or a little bit of both," said AnnMarie Gallivan, founder and owner of Create Artisan Studio in Wakefield.
"A big reason why we brought back this event in 2019 is the unique way Art and Edibles brings together the entire community. Local artists, restauranteurs, businesses, and students all contribute. And we're very proud to be helping the Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry this year," said Christopher J. Carino, Chairman, Albion Cultural Exchange.
