The inaugural, "First Thursday Downtown" is scheduled for Thursday June 2, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm. at the Albion Cultural Exchange and will feature young up and coming artists from the Wakefield High School Visual Arts Department. "First Thursday Downtown" will be a regular monthly event for people to come downtown and enjoy local art and culture. 

 

"The WHS Visual ARts Department will be the first of the First Thursdays. On May 19 we showcased the work of our graduating seniors and now it's time to present our upcoming talent." said Joy Schilling of the Wakefield High School Visual Arts Department and Albion Cultural Exchange Committee.  

 

First Thursday's Downtown is just beginning and the Albion Cultural Exchange is looking to add in various monthly community partners to participate in First Thursday's Downtown. The Albion Cultural Exchange has an open main floor gallery with natural light pouring in from palladium windows and is in the heart of Downtown Wakefield at 9 Albion Street. 

 

Open Studio event at Porter Mill on June 4th.  This historic building at 95 Rantoul St in Beverly MA will have 4 floors of artists in their studios open from 11-5pm.   You will be able to see their work, have conversations about their process and buy some great art. There is a gallery on the first floor which will have a show of our art and from 5pm - 7pm you are invited to join us for a reception. 

 

 

"A Glorious Moment" was one of 100 pastels selected to be exhibited at the Cultural Center in South Yarmouth in For Pastels Only, June 14-July 10, sponsored by the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod. The opening reception for this national exhibit isSaturday, June 18 from 6:00-8:30.

Elinor Freedman, a long time Wakefield resident and Cape Cod washashore, is inspired by the beauty of the landscape and creative energy of fellow artists. Two of her newest works will be on display on the Cape this summer. 

 

"Tide's In" was accepted into All Cape Cod, a juried exhibit on display from May 16-June 13 at the Cape Cod Art Association in Barnstable.
