Linda Tedeschi
Linda Tedeschi is a 1991 graduate of the University of Massachusetts- Amherst, with a BFA in printmaking and minors in graphic design & art history. She was a member of Experimental Etching Studio in the South End of Boston for 10 years, and continues to print in various printmaking studios, creating etchings and woodcut reductions, and occasional lithographs. Linda also paints using multiple mediums including acrylics, dry pigments and metallics on canvas. She has exhibited her work consistently in the Boston area and has twice exhibited at Alex Grey’s prestigious gallery, CoSM in New York City. Linda’s primary inspiration has always been focused on the human form. This was initiated by a family trip to Italy during early childhood. Being surrounded by the works of the Renaissance masters has molded and shaped her work and influenced the way she renders. For her, it is very easy to generate emotion from a tight rendering. As an accomplished printmaker, she would often make simple color studies of interlocking circles of varying sizes and arrange colors in the spaces to plot and plan out a color scheme suitable for a print which would be the finished product. Viewers who saw her preliminary color studies took notice and looked at these as its own art rather than an exercise for a finished print. The challenge to her was to generate emotions with no subject matter, only using color. Since 2007, these paintings became its own body of work of abstract color.
